Confusion with British Beauty Blogger

15 Sep

Oops! Apparently there has been some confusion between myself and British Beauty Blogger due to the similar sounding names.

Firstly, I want to say sorry to Jane over at BBB for any inconvenience (after all, she set hers up a long time ago) and secondly explain that my blog was set up about three years ago when I was a student and not really as aware of names/the blogging industry! It was in no way meant to be exploiting Jane’s reputation and you will of course see how different in style it is too.

I have been meaning to change the name and layout of my blog for a while now as I want to be more distinctive and reflect the fashion/lifestyle offering, as well as beauty. It hasn’t happened yet as I am not very tech-y so have been struggling with how to transfer all my content and keep any followers. (Any tips welcome)!

Hopefully I will have a brand spanking new blog (and name) soon so stay tuned!

I just wanted to share a few pics following the big Vichy Idealia Life Serum launch that I helped to organise! We held the launch on Tuesday 2nd July at Paramount Bar which is the bar in the huge Centre Point building next to Tottenham Court Road that has fabulous 360 degree views of London. Myself and the rest of team Vichy welcomed a host of press and bloggers to learn about the new Idealia Life Serum (out in Boots now FYI) as well as the Dermablend foundation franchise; Tanya Burr also hosted a space whilst the lovely Zoe from The London Lipgloss was on the DJ decks. Overall, a great night!

Money Supermarket Passion for Fashion Competition SS13

7 Apr

The Money Supermarket Passion for Fashion competition is back, this time for SS13! Bloggers were faced with the challenge of creating three SS13 looks for under £200 each for the chance to win the outfits; these looks included Beach/Holiday, Party and Casual which were judged by Girl in the Lens, What Olivia Did and A Little Bird Told Me respectively. Want to see what I came up with?

Beach/Holiday Look

Beach Holiday 1

Swimsuit – River Island – £35

Tie-dye Kimono – Topshop – £60

Cats Eye Sunglasses – ASOS – £10

Gold Beach Bag – New Look – £12.99

Aztec Wedges – new Look  – £24.99

Gold beaded bracelet – Miss Selfridge – £14

Going on a beach holiday is the perfect time to relax, get a golden glow (safely with sunscreen of course!) and feel totally glam, so for this glamorous look I chose luxe textures, classic styles and shimmering golden accessories.

The whole look works around the key piece which is an uber sexy, deep V-neck black swimsuit with a gold halterneck chain from River Island’s Pascha collection. I teamed it with a tie-dye tassle kimono from Topshop to cover up skin and add some colour, also matched by the towering chunky aztec heels from New Look. Cats eye sunglasses protect eyes in a fashionable diva style, whilst the gold beach bag and gold bangle beads add an extra touch of dazzle. This is totally St. Tropez head-turning holiday wear at it’s best – now we just need to book the flights!

Party Look

Party look 1

Red dress – Missguided – £19.99

White jacket – Topshop – £58

Gold collar – Missguided – £11.99

Red and gold sandal heels – Zara – £29.99

White perspex clutch – Boohoo – £12

Spring/Summer 13 is all about bright bold colours, clean cut whites and ankle-strapped sandals, as seen on the catwalks of Victoria Beckham, Gucci and DKNY respectively. Luckily, the high street has some super affordable alternatives!

Missguided’s bold red skater dress forms the basis of the look and is a dead ringer for Victoria Beckham’s designer version but comes in at a snip of the price, at only £19.99. I especially like this dress as it can be really versatile; as well as making a bright party dress, it could also be dressed down for winter with black tights and a white shirt underneath. I teamed this with a white biker jacket from Topshop which is a good investment as it can go with a multitude of outfits, as well as being a big SS13 trend. An edgy studded white perspex bags adds a touch of celeb style to the look, with celebs like Solange Knowles and Zoe Saldana having been spotted with clear bags recently.

Ankle-strap heels were everywhere on the SS13 catwalks, and Zara’s red/gold ankle-strap sandals go perfectly with this outfit. The gold collar from Missguided adds a tougher edge to the look and helps tie the whole outfit together. Now, who wants to go party?

Casual Look

Casual look 1Pastel floral skinny jeans – Boohoo  – £20

Mint green jumper – Topshop – £36

Rose gold watch – River Island – £28

White shirt – ASOS – £32

White plimsolls – New Look – £7.99

Nude bag – H&M – £24.99

Sorbet pastel shades and delicate florals were all over the SS13 catwalks, including the likes of Mulberry, Erdem and Christian Dior to name but a few. This trend is perfect for casual wear as you can team loose, light materials with plenty of sugary shades for a bang on-trend but subtle look.

I teamed pastel floral skinny jeans from Boohoo with a classic white shirt from ASOS, worn under a gorgeous mint green jumper from Topshop (let’s face it, we’re always going to need knitwear with Britain’s summers). There has been a whole lot of love for the rose gold Michael Kors watches of late, so this high street River Island version adds a touch of practical sophistication to the outfit. White pumps and a nude bag are comfy, practical and pull the look together. Perfect for a pub lunch, lazy stroll around a park or summer bbq with friends.

Launches: Louise Thompson for Goddiva and Gary Cockerill False Eyelashes

1 Dec

On Thursday night I popped along to two celeb launches; the first was Made in Chelsea girl Louise Thompson’s new clothing range for Goddiva and the second was celebrity make-up artist Gary Cockerill’s new false lashes launch.

Louise Thompson’s range for Goddiva is focused around evening-wear, featuring black prom dresses, metallic knits and fitted pencil dresses. The clothes are reasonably priced, ranging from £22 upwards, which might seem odd for someone who is known on the Chelsea socialite scene but Louise admitted to me on the night that she hadn’t actually had that much involvement with the range which might explain it. Guests were generously invited to pick an item of their choice from the range (albeit from a very small, squashed changing room!) and I picked out this cute prom-style black dress with sequin top and applique bottom that will hopefully work well for one of my festive parties.

After squeezing ourselves out of the small pub venue, the lovely Emma and I headed over to Covent Garden for Gary Cockerill’s lash launch, where the red carpet and papps were waiting for the celebs due to attend. After getting out of their way, we entered a very busy room where canapés and drink were flowing. Gary’s lash collection looks great and I LOVE the way that each pack has a pair for day and night – such a good idea! At just under £15, they seem really good value and there is plenty of choice for girls who prefer a more natural look as well as those who like the full on Essex look!

We were kindly treated to some samples in our goodybags so I shall hopefully post a review up soon!
