Stepping into the Yeashin SS14 Fashion Scout showcase at the Freemasons Hall was like stepping back into a lavish eighteenth century French princess’ chamber. As extravagant Parisian accordian music played overhead, the collection that appeared was full of ruffles, silks, satin, pleats, bows and chiffon that would have made even Marie Antoinette proud.
Sugary sweet candy colours were the order of the day at the Yeashine SS14 collection, with soft pinks, baby blues, buttermilk yellows and pastel greens all making an appearance. The outfits had a fairy-tale, Disney feel about them, with empire line dresses that had delicate chiffon pleats flowing from them, balloon sleeves, ruffle trims and bows hanging from shoulders and elbows, not to mention little white crowns.
The make-up was kept simple and youthful, with clear skin and a fresh rosy glow on the cheeks, whilst the hair was kept similarly soft and had a single plait acting as a headband.
Though not quite my cup of tea and not entirely practical, the Yeashin SS14 collection was definitely a playful, saccharine extravaganza that would perfectly suit a wannabe French fairytale princess.
