Rooftop Cinema: Queen of Hoxton

Rooftop Film Club 1

On Sunday evening I popped along to the Queen of Hoxton with one of my good friends for one of the ever-popular summer rooftop film screenings. I had always wanted to go to one but never managed to get tickets in time (those things sell like hot tamales!) so when The Rooftop Film Club released more tickets to see The Wedding Singer, I snapped them up!

Outdoor/rooftop films are shown in venues all across London but I’m so happy we got to go to the Queen of Hoxton as it was really cute; not only is the rooftop designed to be like a garden but it was also completely decked out in fairy lights and had little stalls where you could get popcorn, food and drink. After we picked up our Lemongrass Ice Tea cocktails (which I can definitely recommend!) we were given headphones and a blanket before finding our seats on a deck chair or directors chair.

Overall, it was a great atmosphere and felt really special to be watching such a classic film surrounded by the city and buildings of London. I had never seen The Wedding Singer before (I know, I know, I’m a terrible person!) but I think after Sunday night it might very well be one of my top films of all time!

If you want to go to an outdoor cinema experience next year, make sure you keep an eye on The Rooftop Film Club, Luna Cinema, Nomad Cinema, Secret Cinema, Future Cinema and Somerset House Film 4 Screenings as these are always the most popular!

What would be your favourite film to watch and where?
