Money Supermarket Passion for Fashion Competition SS13

7 Apr

The Money Supermarket Passion for Fashion competition is back, this time for SS13! Bloggers were faced with the challenge of creating three SS13 looks for under £200 each for the chance to win the outfits; these looks included Beach/Holiday, Party and Casual which were judged by Girl in the Lens, What Olivia Did and A Little Bird Told Me respectively. Want to see what I came up with?

Beach/Holiday Look

Beach Holiday 1

Swimsuit – River Island – £35

Tie-dye Kimono – Topshop – £60

Cats Eye Sunglasses – ASOS – £10

Gold Beach Bag – New Look – £12.99

Aztec Wedges – new Look  – £24.99

Gold beaded bracelet – Miss Selfridge – £14

Going on a beach holiday is the perfect time to relax, get a golden glow (safely with sunscreen of course!) and feel totally glam, so for this glamorous look I chose luxe textures, classic styles and shimmering golden accessories.

The whole look works around the key piece which is an uber sexy, deep V-neck black swimsuit with a gold halterneck chain from River Island’s Pascha collection. I teamed it with a tie-dye tassle kimono from Topshop to cover up skin and add some colour, also matched by the towering chunky aztec heels from New Look. Cats eye sunglasses protect eyes in a fashionable diva style, whilst the gold beach bag and gold bangle beads add an extra touch of dazzle. This is totally St. Tropez head-turning holiday wear at it’s best – now we just need to book the flights!

Party Look

Party look 1

Red dress – Missguided – £19.99

White jacket – Topshop – £58

Gold collar – Missguided – £11.99

Red and gold sandal heels – Zara – £29.99

White perspex clutch – Boohoo – £12

Spring/Summer 13 is all about bright bold colours, clean cut whites and ankle-strapped sandals, as seen on the catwalks of Victoria Beckham, Gucci and DKNY respectively. Luckily, the high street has some super affordable alternatives!

Missguided’s bold red skater dress forms the basis of the look and is a dead ringer for Victoria Beckham’s designer version but comes in at a snip of the price, at only £19.99. I especially like this dress as it can be really versatile; as well as making a bright party dress, it could also be dressed down for winter with black tights and a white shirt underneath. I teamed this with a white biker jacket from Topshop which is a good investment as it can go with a multitude of outfits, as well as being a big SS13 trend. An edgy studded white perspex bags adds a touch of celeb style to the look, with celebs like Solange Knowles and Zoe Saldana having been spotted with clear bags recently.

Ankle-strap heels were everywhere on the SS13 catwalks, and Zara’s red/gold ankle-strap sandals go perfectly with this outfit. The gold collar from Missguided adds a tougher edge to the look and helps tie the whole outfit together. Now, who wants to go party?

Casual Look

Casual look 1Pastel floral skinny jeans – Boohoo  – £20

Mint green jumper – Topshop – £36

Rose gold watch – River Island – £28

White shirt – ASOS – £32

White plimsolls – New Look – £7.99

Nude bag – H&M – £24.99

Sorbet pastel shades and delicate florals were all over the SS13 catwalks, including the likes of Mulberry, Erdem and Christian Dior to name but a few. This trend is perfect for casual wear as you can team loose, light materials with plenty of sugary shades for a bang on-trend but subtle look.

I teamed pastel floral skinny jeans from Boohoo with a classic white shirt from ASOS, worn under a gorgeous mint green jumper from Topshop (let’s face it, we’re always going to need knitwear with Britain’s summers). There has been a whole lot of love for the rose gold Michael Kors watches of late, so this high street River Island version adds a touch of practical sophistication to the outfit. White pumps and a nude bag are comfy, practical and pull the look together. Perfect for a pub lunch, lazy stroll around a park or summer bbq with friends.
